His big Saturday helped him move into a tie for 14th-place at the time of his finish, which is quite the improvement considering he was tied for 117th after Thursday's first round.
Unlike Friday, in which he started his round off with a bogey, Spieth began his third round with a birdie on No. 1. It was set up thanks to a 324-yard opening drive and a 234-yard approach that put him within 20 feet of the hole.
While he had difficulties deciphering the speeds of the greens on Friday, Spieth sank the early birdie chance on Saturday.
That set the tone for his putting game, and while he parred his next 10 holes, Spieth needed to make some big putts to set up some easy par saves.
Spieth got his second birdie of the day on No. 12 thanks to a 31-foot putt to go two-under on the day, but that looked pedestrian compared to what he did on No. 14.
The world's No. 1 player launched a 318-yard drive and a 256-yard approach to get on the green of the par-five, 590-yard 14th hole, but he was still over 50 feet away from the pin. It was no problem, as Spieth sunk the long-distance putt for an eagle, which moved him to four-under on the day and two-under for the tournament.

His final four holes were uneventful as he parred out to end his day just three strokes off the lead.
