1. What is the CSI International High School?
The Houston Academy for International Studies is a Houston Independent School District charter school that will open in Fall 2006. It will serve grades 9 - 12 and is focused on integrating the study of world histories, cultures, languages and interdependence throughout the curriculum.

2. Am I eligible to apply to the Academy?
In its inaugural year, the 2006 - 07 school year, the Academy is accepting only new ninth graders.

3. How do I apply to the Academy?

4. When are school assignments announced?
The Department of Education will send official letters to each student's parent or guardian in June 2005.

5. What are "small schools"?
Small schools mean rigor, relevance and relationships. A dedicated expert faculty will provide rigorous, inquiry-based instruction and lead small advisory groups, providing focused guidance for every student throughout the high school years.

6. What are international studies?
International studies means learning about the geography, history, culture and languages of other world regions. All courses will examine themes of international interdependency.

7. Why does it matter?
Currently, one in six U.S. jobs is tied to international trade. Careers in the arts, science, academia, healthcare and many other sectors also depend on international exchange. This will only increase in the coming decades. The world of tomorrow is being shaped in our classrooms today.
