Asia Society is America's leading institution dedicated to fostering
understanding of Asia and communication between Americans and the peoples
of Asia and the Pacific. A national nonprofit, nonpartisan educational
organization, Asia Society develops cultural, policy, and business programs
about Asia and other world regions, cultures, and languages in school
communities throughout the United States.
The Bill
& Melinda Gates Foundation
was created in January 2000, through the merger of the Gates Learning
Foundation, which worked to expand access to technology through public
libraries, and the William H. Gates Foundation, which focused on improving
global health. Led by Bill Gates’ father, William H. Gates Sr.,
and Patty Stonesifer, the Seattle-based foundation has an endowment of
approximately $27 billion.
