HOME | RECOGNIZE & HIGHLIGHT | CREATE FACT SHEET | CREATE QUOTE SHEET | BEST PRACTICES Awards Programs Awards programs are an excellent way to increase awareness by recognizing and promoting leaders who have made significant contributions to international education. Many Americans do not see the need for international education in the classroom, they feel it can be left to post-secondary education or to professionals. Awards programs serve as a way to demonstrate why international education matters. A business, foundation or other organization located in your state may want to help co-sponsor an awards program since it can help bring visibility to their work as well. The process of seeking nominations may also yield partners in your state that you didn't know existed. To view information on state award programs click any of the links under examples to the right. A national awards program was established in 2003 to recognize leaders in the field of international education. The Goldman Sachs Foundation Prizes for Excellence in International Education were created by The Goldman Sachs Foundation and Asia Society to promote international knowledge and skills in schools and communities throughout the country. The program annually awards five prizes of $25,000 each in the following categories: Elementary/Middle School, High School, a State, Higher Education, and Media/Technology. Click here to learn more. Schools for the Global Age: Promising Practices in International Education profiles nine different approaches that schools in the Goldman Sachs Foundation Prizes competition are taking to increase their student’s international knowledge and skills, and describes the lessons learned from these very different schools. A guide profiling schools in your state is another way to recognize and highlight international education in your state. |
