Brazil vs. Great Britain: Brazilian Shutout Shows Maturity for Medal Run

Brazil did what they were supposed to do against the British—they dominated.
The Brazilians maintained total control of the proceedings on the pitch for the entire first half and only allowed the British to pose a semblance of a threat in the second half when the match was already safely in hand. The fact that they went through the entire match with the focus to dominate throughout shows that they are ready to make waves when the real games begin.
The British haven't participated in the Olympics since 1960 and they have plenty of their own issues that will need to be sorted out for a good showing in the games, but a finish on the podium is all but out of the question for them. The Brazilians will need to remain focused as they look to avoid the upset bug in pool play. Brazil will be favored over the likes of Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand in Group C.
However, there is something to be said for soundly defeating a team as the favorite. Per Olympic rules, teams are primarily made of players that are under-23. Because of their relative youth, it would be understandable if maturity and chemistry would be an issue for a team as these young players attempt to gel and play as a unit.
With young stars such as Hulk, Neymar and Alexandre Pato all clicking early on, there's no reason that this squad can't parlay their early success into a deep Olympic run.
