After months of speculation, and a summer of luck results, Monday finally brought the confirmation that Bob Bradley won't be jetting across the pond to Villa Park and will remain USMNT Head Coach through the 2014 World Cup. Great. Don't get me wrong, Bradley has produced some unexpected and fantastic results. The Confederations Cup immediately springs to mind, as well as (albeit by a mathematical miracle) topping the World Cup group. But it was another bitter exit in the Round of 16 in a game that the US boys could have won. At the end of the day, in all honesty, it just isn't enough anymore. American...

The World Cup was disappointing, but it has gone. While some fans will choose to spend the next four years in dismay, the England staff and players must move on. The 2014 World Cup is in the distance and is not the current issue for the England national team. England have been handed a tough Euro 2012 qualifying group, and it is a group they will start this week in difficult circumstances. With a growing injury list, and off field publicity that makes Bill Clinton look like a solid family man, Fabio Capello must navigate England through to the 2012 European Championships, a tournament...

Sunil Gulati, the president of U.S. Soccer, has given head coach Bob Bradley a four-year extension on his contract, which will now run through 2014. Bradley did relatively well in his four years as coach of the men's national team. The U.S. won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2007, and reached the finals in 2009 (though the 5-0 loss to Mexico in the final was a bit embarrassing). Reaching the finals of the 2009 Confederations Cup (and beating Spain along the way) was certainly impressive. Pre-tournament expectations were met at the 2010 World Cup by surviving group play and reaching...

After several weeks of speculation, news has finally broke that United States Coach Bob Bradley will stay on as the head coach of the United States through the 2014 World Cup.Since the end of the 2010 World Cup, Bradley's job status has been in the air as US Soccer President Suni Gulati started to distance the 52-year-old from the job.In an interview just after the United States got eliminated, Gulati stated, "I have some questions and why we did some things collectively" and "I think the team is capable of more. I think the players know it."In the last several weeks, Bradley managed what some...

After the United States' failure in the 2006 World Cup, coach Bruce Arena found himself without a job and United States Soccer President Suni Gulati found himself trying to replace Arena with one of the greatest footballers of all-time. That footballer was non other than the coach of Germany as they finished in third in the World Cup in Jurgen Klinsmann. Klinsmann, of course, was living in the United States at the time in California, and had worked for the Los Angeles Galaxy prior to working for Germany as a technical adviser. But Klinsmann declined the job and in came Chivas USA coach Bob Bradley...

Estudiantes de La Plata captain Juan Sebastián Verón has called time on his international career after 14 years of wearing the white and sky blue of Argentina. At 35, Verón realizes that his time was dwindling at the highest level, stating: "I believe that (interim coach) Sergio Batista is thinking about building a team for the next World Cup, and the truth is I don't see myself there... The truth is I didn't even think about the call-up list to face Spain, and from here my cycle in the national team has ended." Verón entered the 2010 World Cup as...

As talks between Bob Bradley and U.S. Soccer will continue this week, many questions still remain unanswered. Will his contract be renewed in December? Will he be released? Will he resign (unlikely)? Will a European team overlook its prejudice against American coaches and hire Bob Bradley to a high-profile position? At least one premier league club sits without a long-term replacement, so Bob Bradley's move to a European market remains possible. For Bradley, a move overseas might be a dream he shares with most of his American players. Even though he may seem cool and collected in front of the cameras,...

Interim Argentina manager Sergio Batista has announced his squad will face Spain September 9th in Buenos Aires, and the former Under 20 manager has called upon a number of players that had been discarded by the recently departed Diego Maradona. After general manager Carlos Bilardo made the list to face Ireland last month, Batista took advantage of his opportunity to choose his team by including players who would have considered their international careers over had Maradona continued. The two biggest inclusions are Inter Milan duo Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso. Zanetti has represented Argentina...

You want proof that today's world is one big, commercialised party run by corporate big-wigs? Look no further than the modern-day football kit.The beautiful game remains the same, but advertisers have turned its best players into walking billboards and adverts in case you have the sneaking impulse to purchase something in the middle of the match.Let's jump back into the good old days, where a kit was something used for representing your team and showing pride, not for selling things. A time where the colors and patterns were simple, bold, and invoked a rush of fear or a swell of pride just...
