Federer vs. Murray: Are They Destined For US Open Final Rematch?

With Federer defeating Murray in the Wimbledon final to capture his 17th Grand Slam, everything seemed back in order. The soon-to-be 31-year-old is back at No. 1 after capturing his record-tying seventh Wimbledon crown.
While he looked to add a singles gold medal at the Olympics, Murray had a different way of looking at it. This was an opportunity in which he took advantage and seized the gold medal in a beatdown against Federer.
With the victory, Murray leads the head-to-head with a 9-8 advantage. However, Federer has gotten the better of the Brit in the Grand Slams, defeating him at Wimbledon, the US Open and the Australian Open. With both guys on a new level of confidence, a US Open rematch may very well take place.
After two strong finishes, both Murray and Federer will shift their focus to the hard court season. After all, if Murray is to win a major, the 2012 US Open seems like the best chance.
Think about it, No. 3 Rafael Nadal is still struggling with knee problems after his early exit at Wimbledon. While he should be fresh for the major, the hard courts will push his knees. In order to be successful, the Spaniard needs to play more offensive, aggressive tennis. Running down too many balls will worsen the issue.
World No. 2 Novak Djokovic is not the same player as last year. In reality, it's very difficult to follow up the year he had in 2011. The Serbian is still having strong results, but the way he manhandled the competition last year was incredible. This year, Nole has won in Melbourne, but has been on a bit of a decline since.
Who knows if Federer was tired after his long semifinal against Juan Martin Del Potro in the Olympics, but a 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 victory should give Murray all the confidence in the world....
