Luis Suarez Scores Twice for Uruguay Amid Red Card Controversy

The forward bagged two goals and was also involved in a moment of controversy, as Uruguay beat Peru 2-1 to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Suarez opened the scoring on 43 minutes, tucking home a penalty after he had been brought down in the box by Christian Ramos.
Minutes later came the controversy, as Suarez was challenged from behind and fell to the floor in a heap.
The Peruvian players were unhappy and gestured to Suarez to get to his feet, which prompted a host of players to become involved in a shoving match.
Peru’s Victor Yotun was shown a red card by referee Patricio Loustau for his part in the melee, a decision that did not sit well with his coach Sergio Markarian.
"I'll do my best to make sure this referee does not go to the World Cup because I'm not ashamed to say it was totally decisive [in the result],” Markarian is quoted as saying by Goal.com.
For all the controversy that surrounds Suarez, he is still a top-class goalscorer and proved that point on 67 minutes with a brilliant finish into the top corner with his right foot, giving Uruguay a 2-0 lead.
Jefferson Farfan netted a late free-kick for Peru, but Uruguay held on for the three points.
With three matches remaining in CONMEBOL qualifying, Uruguay sit fifth in their group. That position would be good enough for them to earn a playoff for the right to play at next year’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
