After coming out like gangbusters in the first two rounds, Michelle Wie came down to earth a bit on Saturday. Still, she is tied with Amy Yang at two-under par.
Wie's day started rough with a bogey on the first hole; it was the second straight day she began her round on the plus side. She had seemingly recovered and was coasting to another solid performance after birdies on the third, ninth and 10th holes, but she fell apart on the 11th, 12th and 14th.
A double bogey on the 11th and bogeys on the 12th and 14th sent her to two-over with four holes remaining. To her credit, she didn't let the train go completely off the tracks after this tough stretch, which had been a pattern for her in the past.
She held her composure and parred the remaining four holes.
This wasn't lost on Breitbart's Tony Lee:
If Wie can continue to hold it steady, she'll have a great shot at winning her first major. If not, we'll group this time in with her growing list of near misses.
