Wimbledon 2014 Results: Analyzing Notable Day 1 Scores from All England Club

Unlike many other tournaments, Wimbledon's field is abundantly strong, and the top-ranked players on both the men's and women's sides will be heavily tested early in the tournament.
Needless to say, we can expect to see some upset victories, remarkable runs and thrilling finishes throughout the duration of the event.
Let's take a look at some of the notable early scores from Day 1 at the All England Club. After all, the drama is just beginning to build in London.
(3) Andy Murray def. David Goffin 6-1, 6-4, 7-5
The defending champion looked good early, as Murray defeated Goffin in straight sets.
This came as great news to the local crowd, as 2014 marks the first time in 78 years a British Wimbledon champion took the court to defend his title.
It came as no surprise that Wimbledon's Twitter account was gearing up for his return:
Murray didn't disappoint; he looked relaxed and applied a great deal of pressure on Goffin early in the match. This forced Goffin into 12 unforced errors in the first set, which Murray took easily.
Goffin grew stronger as the match progressed, but Murray's serve was incredibly strong, winning 16 of 17 first-serve points in the second set and 18 of 22 points in the third to take the match in decisive fashion.
Eight aces for Murray and 28 unforced errors from Goffin really summed up this Round 1 duel.
