So the narrative goes that the two-sport athlete is dead, right? Yes...and no.
In the nitpickiest, literal sense of the phrase, a majority of athletes in the Big Four leagues—NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL—are two-sport athletes. Their other sport just happens to be golf.
With exorbitant amounts of both expendable income and time, many athletes hit the links like a second job. Paul Pierce sits at the poker table, Tim Duncan plays Dungeons & Dragons and Larry Fitzgerald travels the world as a photographer. Be it for charity, preparation for early retirement or simply a way to pass the time, golf seems to trump all other "leisure activities" for the biggest sports stars.
With so many competitive individuals keeping score, bragging rights as a good amateur golfer seem to be a big deal for athletes. So much so that Golf Digest released a list in 2009 of the Top 150 Athlete Golfers. Which athletes in the Big Four leagues are the most impressive on the links?
(And no, Charles Barkley does not make the list, even as an honorable mention.)
