Rory McIlroy Misses Cut at 2015 BMW PGA Championship: Latest Comments, Reaction

Rory McIlroy is in the midst of a lot of golf and struggled to pace himself in missing the cut on Friday at the 2015 BMW PGA Championship. On the heels of an opening-round 71, McIlroy shot a 77 on Friday to miss the weekend cut.
Golf Channel's Justin Ray put McIlroy's missed cut in perspective:
This isn't any cause for alarm down the road, though it is a bit disappointing when considering McIlroy's recent form. The world No. 1 had just won his 11th PGA Tour title at the Wells Fargo Championship, adding to his triumph at the WGC-Cadillac Match Play Championship and top-10 finish at The Players Championship.
McIlroy was the defending champion this week at Wentworth, but the course in Surrey, England, had always given him problems until his breakthrough victory in 2014.
The European Tour pointed out how strong McIlroy has been in his recent starts on the circuit:
With all the competitive golf McIlroy has played of late, it's hard to blame him for a bit of a letdown—even in the European Tour's flagship event.
Following his one-under opening round on Thursday, McIlroy admitted to a bit of frustration when things weren't going his way, per the Associated Press' Jack Bezants (via PGA.com):
Physically I feel fine but mentally I could feel myself getting down on myself out there, which is not something I have been doing the last three weeks. I just need to be aware of that and keep everything on an even keel. It is acceptance of bad shots.
Every time I have played well this year, I have been talking about how mentally good I have been. I feel like my patience was wearing thin out there today.
Though his game wasn't in good enough shape to make the weekend in Surrey, plenty of opportunities await for McIlroy to redeem himself in the coming tournaments.
