2010 British Open: Tiger Woods, the Favorite at St. Andrews

He has not been putting or striking the ball off the tee very well at all. And if he can't control his driver on golf courses where weather is not an issue, how do you suppose he will fair at St. Andrews, where they never suspend a round even when it is raining and there are violent winds?
Now, Tiger should be one of the favorites, but not the clear cut favorite to take home the Claret Jug. What is in Tiger's favor is that he knows the course really well and Woods can definitely hit the ball a long ways. Because of this he can drive the ball past the bunkers.
It is an advantage but again, this shouldn't make Tiger the favorite. He is down in categories like greens in regulation and fairways hit, as well as putting. The problem with Tiger this year since his return at the Masters in April is that he has never had his irons and putters working at the same time.
Due to this fact, Tiger has just recently switched his putter for the first time since 1999. Also, reluctant to get too personal, but it has to be said, Tiger's issues of the course are clearly affecting him. He just went through a $750 million divorce settlement. That definitely has to weigh deeply on his mind.
We all can't wait to see Tiger win again and nothing can be put passed him. Just because he is not the clear cut favorite does not mean he can't win The Open.
Ironically enough, Tiger has played horribly to put it lightly, in tournaments that are not majors. Including not finishing his final round at the Players Championship. However, at the Masters and the U.S Open he finished 4th because he knew the courses well. St. Andrews is no...
