US Open Tennis Odds: Djokovic over Murray, Williams over Kerber, Muguruza, Halep

Djokovic is listed at +100 (bet $100 to win $100) while second seed, and 2012 U.S. Open winner, Andy Murray is right behind him at +180 at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. Murray is coming off a win at Wimbledon in July and followed that up by taking home his second straight gold medal at the Rio Olympics.
Djokovic met Murray in an epic U.S. Open final four years ago, with the latter winning in five grueling sets after blowing an early 2-0 lead.
Murray did not face Djokovic at Wimbledon because he was upset in the third round by Sam Querrey. Instead, he topped sixth-seeded Milos Raonic in straight sets for his second career singles title at the All-England Club.
Djokovic has appeared in the final of the U.S. Open five out of the past six years, finishing as the runner-up three times during that stretch.
On the women’s side, Serena Williams is a strong +120 favorite and will try to rebound from a disappointing showing in the Olympics and make it back to the final at the U.S. Open after getting bounced in the semifinals a year ago.
Williams was stunned by unseeded Roberta Vinci, who ended up losing to champion Flavia Pennetta in the final.
With Pennetta retired, the top-seeded Williams will be the most recent champ in the field and try to win her fourth U.S. Open title in five years and her seventh overall.
The top competition for Williams is expected to come from second-seeded Angelique Kerber, third-seeded Garbine Muguruza and fifth-seeded Simona Halep, who are all +800 to win the women’s title on the tennis betting odds at the sportsbooks.
