World Golf History: Isabelle Beisiegel Earns Card for Men’s Canadian Tour

Good for you, Isabelle Beisiegel. You're amazing and you've made golf history.
While Tiger Woods is hobbling around in his protective boot, a 32-year-old former University of Oklahoma All-American went out and earned playing privileges last week for the men's Canadian Tour.
Simply put, Beisiegel is the first woman EVER in golf history to earn a spot at a men's professional qualifying tournament.
She shot rounds of 75-78-68-75 to finish ninth and earn a fully-exempt spot with a 296, eight-over par total at the Canadian Q-School at the Morningstar Golf Club in Parksville, British Columbia.
This was no 6,600-yard course either. It was 7,000-plus and difficult. Medalist Andrew Kelly of Australia shot one-under par, 287 for the 72-hole qualifier.
What makes this even more interesting is the fact that Beisiegel has fought and overcome Graves Disease.
She was the medalist at the 2003 LPGA Q-School, but had a really non-eventful 2004 season and it was after that in November of 2005 when she was diagnosed with the disease that strikes the auto-immune system.
Beisiegel underwent surgery to remove her thyroid, then had successful thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
After a long road back, this latest accomplishment should garner a lot of attention for the Canadian Tour.
Golf history, for sure.
Major accomplishment? Simply extraordinary.
