Tiger Woods Answers the Voice from Earl’s Grave

There it was; Nike's latest commercial offering an emotionless Tiger Woods, who was staring at us while his deceased father's voice asked some haunting questions.
"I want to find our what your thinking was, what your feelings are and did you learn anything?"
Woods answered his father Thursday with a return to competitive golf and a career best opening round at the Masters.
What was Tiger thinking?
Tiger was thinking that if he could just get over his nerves and get off to a decent start, he just might get something going.
And he got something going.
What are Tiger's feelings?
Tiger's feeling that he put forth one heck of an effort Thursday.
He shot himself a nifty 4-under par 68, that was powered by a pair of eagles, one at the par five eighth, the other at the par five 13th. He's never made two eagles in a single round at Augusta.
Did he learn something?
Tiger learned that perhaps he should alter his approach to golf and make the Masters his first tournament of the season.
Tiger also learned that he found friends in the form of the Masters patrons.
"I hadn't heard cheers this loud in all my years here," he told ESPN's Mike Turico after his round. Woods said he found great encouragement from those patrons. He also said that he worked very hard in preparation for this return.
"I was grinding hard for weeks on end," he said of his practice. "Ben Hogan did that."
Woods said he found a friendly setup for the first round.
"The tees were up, the golf course could be had a little more today," the four time champion said.
Woods will play early Friday and finds himself just two behind first round leader Freddie Couples.
And he's in a position that perhaps surprised him.
