Dear Tiger,

I've been keeping track of the news leading up to the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Oh, it starts today by the way. From the quotes I've read online and heard on TV, you sound pretty focused and confident about your chances this weekend. It also sounds like you are pleased with the progress of your swing since you and Hank Haney parted ways. If anyone can be their own swing coach, it's you I guess.

Oh, how rude of me; I didn't even introduce myself. Excuse me. My name is Mike MacConnell, and I started watching golf on TV because of the "I am Tiger Woods" ads (kind of corny, I know). I don't play golf (or any other sport) because I was born with cerebral palsy and I have to use a wheelchair to get around. That's really not that relevant I guess, but that's me.

Okay, back to the U.S. Open.

Like I said, I'm a pretty casual fan, but I do tune in to watch particular golfers. I love the storylines and pageantry that come with golf tournaments—especially in the final round.

What has me the most interested in this year's U.S. Open is the fact that it's at Pebble Beach again. Of course, it's the same course that you won at in 2000 by 15 strokes. However, it's a pretty different course with the new USGA setup as far as I understand, and you're a different golfer than you were ten years ago, too.

Do you like the new-look Pebble Beach, or do you prefer the 2000 version?

People that know a lot more about golf than I do are saying that your swing is a lot different than it was back then. I think I'll just take their word for it.

For the first time in a long time, you're not the clear favorite to win a Major. Does that change your approach to a tournament? Do you use that as motivation, or do you really not care what the experts think?

Not being the clear-cut favorite, what makes you so confident in your ability to win this weekend?

I mean, yo...
