John Deere Classic: Paul Goydos Gives Them a Number to Think About, 59

Al Geiberger had the record for quite a while with his 59, before Chip Beck turned one in Vegas, and there might have been one more somewhere.
Al Geiberger signed his autograph Mr. 59 for many years after his low round.
Now, Paul Goydos has carded a 59 for the lead in the first round of the John Deere Classic.
At -12, that's a good way to do a wire-to-wire victory on the PGA Tour, never giving up the lead. I hope he comes out firing at the flag and gets it between -14 and -16 quickly.
Paul Goydos is a great guy, coming up through the Q-School ranks and hanging in there on the day-to-day grind of the Tour, making some nice money in the process of a few seasons.
He has won twice on the Tour.
In second at -7, is Michael Letzig, followed by Daniel Chopra, Jay Williamson, Matt Jones and Scott McCarren all at -6.
My fantasy team on Yahoo! this week consists of Steve Stricker, K.J. Choi, Fredrik Jacobson and Tim Clarke.
My back ups are Kenny Perry and Joe Durant only this week.
Choi and Jacobson will make the cut, I'm sure, as this course is surrendering low scores.
Joe Durant is almost in the clubhouse -4 and may be active tomorrow depending on how Tim Clarke fares on Thursday, day one, of the John Deere Classic.
Kenny Perry is in with a -3 for day one of the tournament, but hopefully Stricker does a bit better, being the defending champion.
Jacobson is almost in with posting an -1 for the day—at least under par.
Steve Stricker is just getting ready on the tee so let's see if he can get within six shots of Goydos for day one here in Illinois, at the John Deere Classic.
Nice round with his 59 as Paul Goydos gets some needed publicity and public recognition.
