Luke Donald Interview: Part Two

The 32-year-old Englishmen beat young Welshman Rhys Davies by one shot—finishing the tournament 21-under par.
Donald’s last win came at the 2006 Honda Classic, with his last European Tour victories coming back in 2004 when he won the Scandinavian and European Masters.
However, a week before the Madrid Masters, Donald competed in the BMW Championship at Wentworth—which was won by fellow Englishman Simon Khan.
Donald’s time at this year’s Wentworth tournament was not a happy one as he double bogeyed the final hole of the tournament to leave himself out of contention.
However, it was still a good performance and Donald regained his composure to win the following week in Spain.
“Obviously there is a mixture of disappointment and elation the last two weeks. Obviously, quite disappointed at Wentworth to have a real good chance to win there. Needed a birdie on the last two and not to get it done was disappointing.”
“But to be able to put that behind me and play like I did in Madrid and pull off a win meant a lot personally and gave me a lot of confidence”.
Over the past two weeks, Luke has been in good form and will hope to continue this into this week’s Wales Open.
He did not play great in today’s Pro-Am Tournament but felt his game will be ready for tomorrow’s tournament.
“I was a little tired out there today. I think Pro-Ams always take it out of you a little bit. You’re trying to be as nice as possible to your playing partner, and obviously it was an early start this morning.”
“But I’ll be ready to go tomorrow and tiredness won’t be a factor.”
