Dear Tiger,
I had such high hopes for you on tour this year. Let's be honest; with the exception of two top-five finishes at the Masters and the U.S. Open, it's been downright painful to watch you play golf.
Most recently, there was the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club. One word—yikes!
I would have been willing to bet my house, car, boat, and firstborn child that you would win the Bridgestone and enter the PGA Championship on a high note. Do you blame me? You've only won there seven times!
What did you do instead? You shot a 74 on Thursday—only the worst round of golf you've played on that course in your entire life! On Friday you tied your previous worst score with a 72, set a new career-worst on Saturday with a 75, and topped it off with a dismal 78 on Sunday.
Wow. The world's No. 1 golfer finishing 18 shots over par through 72 holes and in 78th place. That's pathetic—absolutely pathetic. Yup, that's the worst 72-hole score of your PGA career.
The way it’s looking right now, your reign at the top of the World Golf Rankings is coming to an end very soon, you’re probably going to be left off of the Ryder Cup team, and you’re most likely not going to get any of your sponsors back in the near future.
The news doesn't get any better. Thursday is the start of the PGA Championship, and your golf game is in total disarray. It wasn’t just one aspect of your game that was off this weekend. It was the entire thing: bad tee shots, poor chip shots, and awful putts. So much for firing Hank Haney, changing your swing, and trying to be your own coach. That's worked really well so far.
My advice: call Hank Haney and get him on a plane to Wisconsin to work on your swing, chipping, and putting. Maybe even watch "Caddyshack" or "Happy Gilmore" to get inspired.
