PGA Championship 2012: Vijay Singh and Overlooked Contenders at Ocean Course

Let's leave some room in the media frenzy for the underrated talents competing at the Ocean Course for the 2012 PGA Championship.
Several golfers, including veteran Vijay Singh, have come out to just the right start at the year's final major tournament. Singh is shooting a remarkable three-under par and is currently tied for first place on the leaderboard along with Tiger Woods and Sweden talent Carl Pettersson.
Singh, a three-time major champion, will be competing with a top-notch field this weekend. But the underdog will surely be giving the field a run for their money.
These are the three overlooked contenders set to surprise the field in the next few rounds.
Vijay Singh (-4)
The three-time major champion has been on the tour since 1993, and he's right in the mix for the top spot after a tremendous second day.
Singh shot an impressive three-under par in Round 2, which has propelled him to the top of the tourney standings. Not to mention, this tremendous talent posted a respectable score of one-under to start things off.
He has been victorious at the PGA Championship twice, with his most recent victory coming in 2004.
With his experience at the tourney and solid play through Rounds 1 and 2, there is no counting out Vijay on the weekend.
Blake Adams (-1)
He has made little to no push in any major since joining the tour in 2001 and has posted just one top-10 finish this season.
But rest assured, the American will contend for a title when it's all said and done. With an impressive Round 1 score and respectable even-par finish in Round 2, it's safe to say it's about time he puts his talents forth to the fullest.
