In a match that saw All Black fly-half Dan Carter pick up a shoulder injury and Springboks hooker Bismarck Du Plessis sent off, the home side used their man advantage to control the play in the second half to run out comfortable winners.
Both sides came into the game with 100 percent records and it is now New Zealand who are in control of the competition.
New Zealand drew first blood on three minutes, with Kieran Reid driving forward following a lineout and going over for the first try of the match.
Morne Steyn reduced the deficit with a penalty, but on 20 minutes the contest erupted as Du Plessis put in a monster hit on Carter. It looked a legal shot, but Du Plessis was sent to the sin bin.
Some say that before Dan Carter goes to bed, he looks under his bed for Bismark.

Conrad Smith scooped up a loose ball and flicked a pass to Brodie Retallick who went in under the posts.
Du Plessis returned to the fray following his spell in the bin and had an impact minutes later by going over for a try.
The Springboks set a maul early and simply rolled towards the try line, allowing Du Plessis to score his eighth Test try.
Du Plessis’ eventful game came to a premature close just after half-time when he was shown a red card.
He caught Liam Messam with an elbow to the neck and referee Romain Poite deemed it serious enough to mete out a second yellow, followed by a red.
