Many of tennis' brightest stars opened the tournament in pristine form on Monday, growing their confidence in preparation to make deep tournament runs.

(1) Rafael Nadal def. Robby Ginepri; 6-0, 6-3, 6-0
Despite being relegated to the second show court on Monday, Rafael Nadal sure played like a champion.
Earning his 60th career victory in 61 matches at the French Open, Nadal easily upended American Robby Ginepri in three sets.
Nadal got off to a very fast start, taking the first set 6-0 in just 29 minutes, according to a tweet from Roland Garros:
After sustaining a brief surge by Ginepri in the second set at three games each, Nadal turned it on once more, finishing the match by winning nine straight games to secure a berth in Round 2.
During a press conference after his match, Nadal was asked about his thoughts of playing on the second show court. Douglas Robson of USA Today tweeted his response:
The field at Roland Garros should be rather nervous after seeing this brilliant performance by Nadal to open the tournament.
(7) Maria Sharapova def. Ksenia Pervak; 6-1, 6-2
Maria Sharapova made swift work of Ksenia Pervak on Monday, losing just three games en route to a two-set victory.
