Nishikori vs. Cilic US Open 2014 Men’s Final: Live Score and Highlights

No. 14 seed Marin Cilic of Croatia defeated 10th-seed Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-3, 6-3, 6-3—the first man to win the U.S. Open championship in straight sets since Roger Federer beat Andy Murray in 2008.
With a power game built around a massive serve, 6'6" Cilic overpowered the much smaller Nishikori. He fought off break point challenges while waiting for opportunities to strike, efficiently dismantling his opponent in just 1:53.
For his part, Nishikori never seemed to get his feet under him—possibly fatigued from long matches he survived earlier in the tournament against No. 5 seed Milos Raonic and No. 3 Stan Wawrinka.
Monday's match will be one to remember for both players—their first-ever appearances in a Grand Slam final. As part of the new generation of young players, Marin Cilic took full advantage of his opportunity to seize a championship at legendary Arthur Ashe Stadium.
