Roger Federer: Rafa Nadal Should Be Weary of Streaking Fed-Ex

No. 3 in the world is set to be long gone soon enough for Roger Federer, as Fed-Ex is set to win the 2012 Madrid Open Final and take over Rafael Nadal's No. 2 ranking.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 2 Rafael Nadal might have their fair share of struggles with surface in Madrid, yet tennis great Federer is moving right on through the field and will likely win the 2012 Madrid Open.
What has made Federer's play so impressive is the fact that he has been able to overcome the slippery conditions at the Open and triumph. While the world's best, Nadal and Djokovic, continue to complain, Federer continues to win matches.
Rafael Nadal has spent a fair amount of time at No. 2 after continuing to fail to beat Djokovic. Outside of the ATP Monte-Carlo tournament win, Nadal has been unable to beat Djokovic in the finals of tournaments as of late.
Nadal lost to Djokovic at the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, ATP Internazionali BNL d'Italia, ATP Sony Ericsson Open, Paribas Open and even the Madrid Open all last year. That is a total of six different finals Nadal has lost to Djokovic that could have been six titles instead.
As a result, inevitably Nadal has to be growing weaker in his confidence against the world's No. 1, as now is as opportune a moment as any for Federer to sneak in and take over the No. 2 seed. This may well in fact be the last chance Fed the Great gets a go at a top-two spot.
Nadal needs to start winning soon, as Federer has only been improving his play over the last several tournaments. The quality has been something to watch, as there is no question the Spanish superstar needs to step up his game to keep up with one of the best to play the game.
