Marussia Confirms Retention of Jules Bianchi for 2014 Formula 1 Season

The impressive 24-year-old has outperformed expectations during his debut campaign and is delighted to represent the Anglo-Russian team for a second consecutive term, per Andrew Benson of BBC Sport:
I couldn't have wished for a more supportive environment in which to make my F1 debut and from the very beginning I have always felt completely at home with the team.
We started the season well and while the challenge has increased as the season has developed, we have learned important lessons together that will place us in a much stronger position next year.
Having finished last in each of its previous three F1 seasons, Marussia’s ability to retain Bianchi should be applauded. The Frenchman’s 13th-place finish in Malaysia sees the team go above perennial rivals Caterham in the F1 Constructors’ Championship, although neither team has managed to score a point this season.
Even so, Bianchi’s memorable form and willingness to sign a new deal should be regarded as an immensely positive step for Marussia. The former Ferrari Driver Academy student was an outside bet for the Italian company's second driver’s spot before it opted for Kimi Raikkonen, per Benson’s report.
Bianchi landed the French Formula Renault 2.0 title in 2007 before going on to win the Formula 3 Euro Series two years later. In 2012, he was nominated as reserve driver for Sahara Force India and finished second in the Renault Formula 3.5 Championship, gaining three wins and eight podium finishes, per his official Ferrari profile.
British driver Max Chilton currently joins Bianchi in the Marussia setup. The 22-year-old driver has finished behind his colleague in all 13 races this season and faces an uncertain future, as reported by Ian Parkes of the Press Associ...
