Ernie Els now stands at minus one and tied for second, along with my fantasy B- players Dustin Johnson and K.J. Choi, who are also at minus one.
As I previously stated, any score under par could win this tournament as the USGA sets this course up for the weekend.
An Open at Pebble usually provides a great test, with long rough and lightning greens.
Tiger Woods sits at plus four and hopes for a run on the weekend. The cut will fall around plus seven.
He is my A-player this week in fantasy and I have to ride it out. His back up Heath Slocum is doing even less. Slocum is at plus five so far.
My C -fantasy player is hanging in at plus three now, after a tough love Friday on the greens at Pebble.
Shaun Micheel led after round one, but we know how first round leaders disappear at Opens.
Other notables contending on the weekend will be leader Graeme McDowell at minus three and Ryo Ishikawa at minus one. Ian Poulter is also at minus one, and looks to break through for a major in a big way.
Many good players are hanging around plus four to even par, so things could get crazy on Sunday if they stay bunched up this way.
I do not expect McDowell to be there, but someone in the plus 2 or plus 4 area may have a putter come alive and could suddenly be right there.
This is a big time tournament with ultimate conditions, and a bigger name will win this thing.
