These days Adams is retired, no longer in charge of day-to-day operations at Adams Golf, but he still loves the game of golf and plays it regularly.
Today I received a email with ideas Adams has for 1. making golf more fun 2. speeding up play 3. getting more people back out to the golf course all by shortening the length of the courses we play to make our shots equal to the shots that are hit by Tour players.
The email was a shortened version, so I asked for the whole enchilada. The ideas in it are so good that it seemed a shame not to share them. The only thing I disagree with in his essay is the term Tour Length for golf holes. It seems it should be Tour Equitable or Tour Equivalent or even Tour Comparable length for golf courses.
In a way, it's similar to the idea behind the Wendy's Three Tour Challenge, but instead of limiting to PGA Tour, Champions Tour, and LGPA lengths, he would add regular men's, senior men's and ladies tees to the mix. It makes so much sense it is ridiculous. Ego remains the issue. See what you think— Kathy Bissell
