Daytona State Women’s Golf Coach Laura Brown Named LPGA T&CP Coach of the Year

Brown was selected by the LPGA T&CP Executive Committee for this award due to her achievements, which include winning the 2009-2010 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Golf National Championship, mentoring the NJCAA National Championship individual champion, and coaching several other All-Americans.
"It's an honor to receive this award, as it is a nationally recognized award," said Brown. "It shows that all of my hard work with my players has paid off. Receiving this kind of recognition is great for me as a professional and equally important for my school and golf program."
This is Brown’s 13th season at the helm of the Lady Falcons' golf team. Brown is the only coach that Daytona State College has had, as she started the program in 1998. Under her leadership, Brown has won four NJCAA National Championships and coached 43 All-Americans, including two individual national champions.
A Florida native, Brown won the 1987 National High School Athletic Coaches Association National Championship and received a golf scholarship to the University of Florida. As a Gator, Brown earned Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Year honors and won the 1990 Doral State Collegiate Championship. Brown was also a member of the 1991 SEC Championship team.
Following graduation, she turned professional and competed on various mini-tours until qualifying for the LPGA Tour in 1994. Brown won the 1995 Briarwood FUTURES Tour event and competed on the LPGA Tour in 1995 and 1997.
