Louis Oosthuizen Uses Luck and Cart Path to Smash 500-Yard Drive at Ballantine’s

If you want to smash a 500-yard drive like Louis Oosthuizen, you will need a driver, a cart path and luck. Don't forget the luck.
European Tour brings us a video featuring Oosthuizen, who is about to tee off on what seems to be the first hole of his second round at the Ballantine's Championship in Korea.
The South African isn't all that pleased with the shot, which manages to hit the cart path to the right of the fairway. From there, we'd like to think the golfer was taken on a roller coaster of emotions.
Hitting the path isn't exactly disastrous, but it's hardly the lie you want to start the day. As the ball rolls, a bad shot begins to look all the more tantalizing.
Now, remember, this is a 583-yard hole, which usually mandates at least a couple of shots before you sniff the green.
In this case, the generous cart path takes the ball to the best possible spot before absolute disaster. As the announcer mentions, the ball rolls dangerously close to a part in the path where the ball would roll back away from the green.
It goes so far down the path that bystanders just walk past the ball having no clue where it came from.
After what seems like hours, Oosthuizen finds his first shot sitting comfortably about 500 yards away from where he shanked it.
It's far better to be lucky than good. Also, if you happen to see a random ball just rolling along a cart path, don't touch it. Oosthuizen will be by to claim it any minute now.
