The second round of the PGA Championship is almost in the books as a few more familiar names are climbing up the leaderboard to challenge Matt Kuchar, who leads the tournament at eight shots under par.

Jim Furyk has been hot finishing his second round up and has reached minus six.

Nick Watney is a good young player to watch this weekend and currently sits at minus seven in second place alone.

It looks like the cut line will be at plus one, as people start realizing they need a couple of birdies to play on the weekend.

Tiger Woods is still playing round two and seems stuck at minus one. He certainly needs at least to gain a couple more strokes on the leader before he starts round three.

Well there's one, as he birdies to reach minus two.

Just a few holes to go now, and this tournament starts up for real.

Minus three for Tiger would be very good considering last week, and all the coach, swing, and life changes he is dealing with.

There is a massive back log of players at minus five and tied for fourth, so separation will occur in the next 27 holes or so to show us the clear-cut front-runners for the back nine on Sunday.

Plenty of players can remain close, as birdies are a premium at this Pete Dye masterpiece.

What's amazing about this golf course, is it once was totally flat farmland, reinvented by a master course designer who said of this course, it was one of his lifetime great achievements.

J.B. Holmes and Jason Dufner bear watching today as they both are in the top six names on the leader board now hovering around that minus six mark.

If Woods can grab one more birdie, and reach minus three, that will be within five shots of the lead, putting Matt Kuchar and a couple of other guys in the crosshairs of Tiger Woods entering the weekend.

I hope Tiger does not shoot blanks for round three.
