PGA TOUR: Zack’s Putter as Hot as Texas, Wins Colonial

The weatherman posted some pretty impressive high numbers during the four rounds at Colonial.
The high temperatures were 93 on Thursday, 95 on Friday, 94 on Saturday and 93 on Sunday.
The 95 on Friday broke the record high of 94 set in 1982.
Zack Johnson posted some pretty impressive low numbers during the four rounds at Colonial.
His rounds of 65 on Thursday, 66 on Friday, and a pair of 64s over the weekend set a new 72-hole scoring record of 259 by two strokes.
The 2007 Masters champion and now seven time winner on the PGA TOUR also led the field with 24 birdies at Colonial, an average of one every three holes.
The 34-year old winner in Texas once in each of the last three years led the field in greens in regulation hitting 84.7%.
Unlike Dario Franchitti coasting on fumes to win the Indy 500, Zack Johnson turned hotter than the weather with six birdies on the back nine stretch racing his way to the clubhouse despite a few checkered weather delays.
Johnson's Sunday 64 trumped third round co-leaders Brian Davis (68) and Bryce Molder (70).
Like solo runner-up finisher Brian Davis said: "Zack won the tournament, I did not lose it."
Davis also was beaten, ultimately in a playoff, by a solid final round 69 by Jim Furyk under tough windy conditions at Harbour Towne on a day when he shot 68.
A non-winner on tour, the 35-year old Englishman now has two second-place finishes this year to go along with one in each of the previous three years.
