Twelve players are on each side, with the top 10 qualifying automatically and the final two spots being left to the discretion of captain's picks. Below is an overview of each roster in order of their ranking in points:
The most obviously exciting captain's selection comes from the American side in 20-year-old prodigy Jordan Spieth, who burst onto the PGA Tour scene by winning the John Deere Classic earlier this season.
Spieth, who certainly helped his case by closing last week's Deutsche Bank Championship with a final-round 62, was extremely grateful for the maiden honor to play in this prestigious competition:
One of his playing partners for that magnificent display, Phil Mickelson, implored Fred Couples to pick Spieth in a rather humorous way via text message:

Brandt Snedeker may be second in points for the USA, but even he's excited to make his first appearance:
The defending FedEx Cup champion, along with fellow Presidents Cup rookies in PGA Championship winners Keegan Bradley and Jason Dufner, all had valuable Ryder Cup experience last year. Thus, they have a taste for this international competition.
As for the international team, the captain's picks of 2009 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Marc Leishman and Brendon de Jonge aren't quite as exciting as Spieth and 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, but the visiting roster offers plenty of intriguing players.
