Ryder Cup 2010: Scores, Results From Day 1; Pairings, Schedule for Day 2

What was a 10 year project to design the ultimate, challenging golf course for the Ryder Cup took only a few short holes to put even the longest, most precise and gifted golfers worldwide in a drenched, dripping distress.
But after a seven hour and 18-minute delay, play resumed for another two hours allowing three of the four groups to finish the front-nine holes. Prior to the delay, the Americans looked simply ghastly, playing as though they had no interest in breaking the European streak of winning on foreign soil since 1993.
But once the rain calmed, so too did the Americans find their rhythm.
The foursome matches currently favor the Americans. Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar were 2 up on Rory McIlroy and U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell through 11 holes; Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton were 1 up on Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington through eight; and Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker were all square with Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher.
At 7pm in Newport, Wales, nightfall stopped play and both teams retreated to their respective dry clothes.
