Simon Khan Interview Before His Pro-Am Match at Celtic Manor

After winning the European Tours flagship event, Khan has had a very busy schedule with the tour, qualifying for the US Open, and talking to the media about his success.
A normal Monday after winning a massive tournament would usually result in a day’s relaxation, with a little practice.
However, Simon Khan was at Walton Heath Golf Course, trying to qualify for this year’s US Open.
Khan was obviously in good form and had hoped to qualify for the second major of the year.
Khan said, “Yeah, got up and played the next morning. I actually felt pretty good about playing. To go out and turn the phone off was nice for four hours.”
“I played in the morning and felt fine and played well in the morning. The afternoon was almost as good. It was a shame it didn’t work out in the end.”
Having failed to qualify for the US Open, he said that he felt disappointed in himself.
However, he received a phone call from a friend which made him appreciate the enormity of what he had achieved.
“I spoke to one of my best friends on the way home from Walton Heath and that sort of made me realise what I had done on Sunday.”
There were many friends, both in and out of the golfing world, who congratulated him on his win, including Ruud Gullit and Ian Wright.
When he attended the US Open qualifier at Walton Heath, he also received congratulations from various players who were also trying to qualify.
“The more experienced players come up to you and say how pleased they are for you, that meant a lot to me”.
Due to his win at Wentworth, Khan has now all but guaranteed himself a place at many of the other top tournaments available on the Europe...
