Tiger Woods carded a two-under 70 on Day 2 of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill to remain four strokes off the lead, which is held by Justin Rose and Bill Haas at nine under overall.

Woods was just one shot back entering the par-five 16th hole playing alongside the leading Englishman.

Unfortunately, once his tee shot on the reachable hole found the right fairway bunker, it led to a sequence of events in which Woods bogeyed the final three holes.

From that position off the tee, an uncharacteristically chunky shot found the water short of the green, and he failed to get up and down for par. Considering he eagled that hole the previous day, it was quite the letdown.

It carried over to the next two holes, where Woods pull-hooked his six-iron on the par-three No. 17 up against the grandstands over the green. That led to another bogey after his chip rolled through the green. Another wayward tee shot at the last hole resulted in another missed green and a bogey.

But it wasn't a complete disappointment for the seven-time winner of this event on Friday. Woods birdied the opening hole and then eagled the par-five No. 6 thanks to a phenomenal 215-yard approach that settled eight feet from the cup.

Birdies at No. 11 and No. 13 got Woods to eight under, courtesy of two stellar mid-range putts. Three bad swings essentially cost him three shots down the stretch.

The final dropped stroke may prove extremely critical, as it dropped Woods out of the top five. That's a very significant position for Woods to be in if history is any indication, according to ESPN's Justin Ray:

That's right: Woods is five-for-five when he's in the top five. Not a bad track record at all, but he's in a tie for seventh, which will only add to the drama as moving day unfolds Saturday.

Woods' swing was in rhythm most of the day, but a couple of missed short putts prevented the li...
