Tiger Woods Must Finally Win Another Major to End Constant Criticism

The U.S. Open was simply a culmination of the past few years. Amid controversy and struggles, Woods has constantly been talked about as a potential threat to win another major. Unfortunately, these talks have ended in disappointment for far too long.
Woods ended the tournament 13 over par, which is his worst score ever at a major. Saturday and Sunday were particularly bad; he shot 76 and 74, respectively. A triple bogey on the second hole on Sunday summed up the entire tournament for him quite well.
Tiger has now played in 20 major events without a win, easily the longest streak in his career. His last major win came at the U.S. Open all the way back in 2008.
His 14 major wins are the second most ever, behind only Jack Nicklaus, who had 18 over his career. Unfortunately for Tiger, this drought is causing many people to question whether he will ever break Nicklaus’ record of majors titles.
This season hasn’t been all bad for Tiger, however. He was able to regain the No. 1 ranking in the FedEx Cup standings thanks to four wins on the year. His most recent win came at the Players Championship, where he finished 13 under par for the tournament.
Unfortunately, the critics will be all over Woods for a while after his previous two tournaments. The U.S. Open was bad enough, but he also struggled mightily at the Memorial Tournament at the beginning of the month. He finished eight over par for the tournament, tying for 65th in the field of play.
Woods needs to play like he did back in March when he won the WGC-Cadillac and Arnold Palmer Invitational in order to impress everyone once again.
