The Masters is a great addition to the game, but just because they have it doesn't mean it has to be the centerpiece of the game.
I personally loved the career mode that made it feel like you had to do well in each course in order to be the best. In this game, once you achieve the Masters, where do you go from there?
Also, I don't really like that now it's all about unlocking equipment rather than buying it with the money that you earned from the tournaments. Like I said before, the games smaller tournaments are once again robbed of any significance and feel as if they are just busy work.
The ladder that you climb to get to the PGA Tour is a great part of the game, but the bad outweighs the good this year.
The career mode may have taken more of a step back, but the gameplay itself seems to be better than ever before. This year, we get a caddy and 3D grass as the biggest changes to gameplay. The caddy makes gameplay simple for those that aren't more than just casual gamers and even for the more hardcore gamer it creates a convenience that wasn't in previous games.
The caddy in career mode progresses in skill as your golfer does, but if you get yourself in trouble, the caddy will leave you hanging if he isn't skilled enough. So the motto here is convenience to a point and that point goes as far as the skill of your golfer.
The 3D grass is also something worth mentioning. This will be used in many of EA Sports' games to come and if this game is the precedent, then games will be more realistic than ever.
