Tiger Woods’ Putting Woes Are All a Matter Of Mind, Grasshopper

At the risk of being branded "sexist" and writing sexist "garbage" simply because I'm female, I feel compelled to reiterate something I wrote yesterday. That is:

"Tiger Woods no longer wins golf tournaments because he no longer can putt. And he no longer can putt because he's a lust rat who got caught, and it very much still preys on his mind."

If that makes me sexist, as one reader submitted, then so is Johnny Miller. Ditto Andy North.

Look, if Tiger Woods' golf game in 2010 had a soundtrack, it would be that of a beat-up, old jalopy lurching down the street with exhaust troubles—putt, putt, putt, putt, putt.

Anyone who follows golf could tell you that. I mean, the former world's No. 1 can get together with his latest swing guru du jour, Sean Foley, and fiddle-fart around with mechanics all he likes, but until the blade is working Woods isn't going to collect any more victories. Or, as he is wont to call them, "Ws."

Tiger, as I'm sure you are aware by now, has gone W-free this year, which is like John Daly going a year without a puff and a pint, so now only next month's Chevron World Challenge stands between Woods and his first donut since he began playing the game for pay in 1996.

The Chevron Challenge, it should be pointed out, is not to be confused with an official PGA Tour event, because it is a select gathering of a mere 18 lads who happen to strike a golf ball better than most people on the planet.

It is, in fact, Tiger's own tournament and, although it offers handsome remuneration and points in the world rankings, it is casual in the beers-n-burgers, year-end barbeque sense. Sort of like the guys in the neighborhood getting together for guffaws and suds at the end of the local slo-pitch baseball season.

Still, it is a golf tournament and Tiger Woods never tees it up without a singular resolve: Collect a W. That's his motivation. He craves Ws like Brett Favre...
