Park, who was looking for her third-consecutive LPGA Championship win, was consistently dominant in her round. She birdied seven of her 18 holes, parring the rest for a score of 14 under.
Park talked about her chances of winning a third straight title:
She will most likely be moving back to the top spot after top-ranked golfer Lydia Ko failed to make the cut after round two with a two-over. Golf Digest's Ron Sirak knows that Park is one of the best.
Park hit all 14 of her fairways, the first time this tournament that she was perfect in her targeting. She seemed to have taken a bit off her initial drives to do so. While averaging 254 and 257 yards respectively in the first two rounds, she missed five fairways.
Park averaged just 240 yards on her drives during the third round. Despite hitting the sand three times, she recorded saves in each of those opportunities.
Second-place Kim also recorded six birdies, but bogeys on 10 and 18 gave her a 69 on the day and 12 under for the tournament.
Shanshan Feng, winner of the 2012 LPGA Championship posted the second-best round early in the day, shooting a 68 to put her at six-under, tied for seventh.
One of the biggest movers of the day, American Morgan Pressel started the day tied for 14th. Shooting four-under on the day, she has moved up to sixth and is now seven-under for the tournament. She finished her day on a great note with an eagle on a par-5 18th hole.
