Cristian Benitez Helps Santo Laguna Edge Out Club America In Semifinals

Guillermo Ochoa (goal keeper for Club America) was unable to rebound the ball. He was also unable to deflect the ball to prevent the first goal by Carlos Darwin Quintero for Santos Laguna.
The reason was the fast kick by Quintero and Benitez because of the rapid fire velocity of the ball and the lack of attention by Ochoa.
Club America was able to score their only goal in the game when Angel Reyna Martinez took advantage of an open space. Martinez ran towards the goal post and blasted the ball into the left center within 19 minutes of the game.
The game was intense, and exciting, from the beginning, with both teams sharing the dominance of the game. The negative side was that mistakes were made which resulted in yellow cards for misconduct for Sanchez, Laserda and Benitez from Santos.
Vicente Vuoso and Pavel Pardo of Club America also received yellow cards for misconduct. The reason for the intensity was that the stakes were high.
Santos Laguna needed a win in order to keep its hopes alive for the Mexican finals. Club America needed to win for the same reason. It appears that Club America will have to win by two goals in the next game against Santos Laguna in the Estadio Corona.
Jaime Herrera was the referee for the game and his performance was mediocre at best. He did not look at the fact that Club America had two penalty kicks in their favor. The oversight actually hurt Club America.
The most valued player was Bristian Benitez, with his clear cut kick leading to a goal within the last few minutes of the game.
It remains to be seen what will transpire in the next match between the two titans of Mexican Football.
