Denmark and Glasgow Rangers Legend Brian Laudrup Diagnosed With Cancer

Laudrup enjoyed a highly successful spell, and received cult hero status with the Rangers from 1994-98, during which time he won three league titles.
"I announce these news via my employer TV3, because I want to avoid both rumors, myths and half truths about my illness. I know that the more that hear about my illness through improper channels, the greater is the risk that it is a distorted version of reality that comes into the press," says Brian Laudrup.
"I am obviously shocked by the diagnosis, but also clarified that there I'm now faced with a tough battle ahead of me. A battle I will win. I have fortunately received very optimistic reports from doctors to support me and I intend therefore to continue to be an expert on TV3 + 's Champions League study.
"I am a very private person on a daily basis and I intend addition to this press release not to comment further on my illness. I am optimistic in terms of my recovery since the disease was discovered in a very early stage and is a mild form of lymphoma. I will next time use much energy to get over the shock and take my time to my family and my closest, so together we can move forward after this diagnosis", he said.
Laudrup played 14 seasons as a professional. He played for nine different clubs in six countries and won the national football championship six times. Brian Laudrup played 82 matches in the Danish national team and scored 21 goals. He made his debut in 1987 against Germany and completed his national team career in 1998 at the World Cup finals in France in a match against Brazil.
