Kim Clijsters Returns To The World Number One Spot

Not many would have believed she would be at this position once she decided to retire.
In 2009, Kim decided to return to competitive tennis after an exhibition she played with Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi, to honour the roof on the Centre Court of Wimbledon.
She then won the U.S. Open, surprising everyone.
" The training sessions were very difficult for me at the start of my second career" said Clijsters.
" But it's worth it!".
"The great things about my career now is I get to share my victories with the whole team, and the ones you love". Added the World number one.
"It's thanks to them I'm able to be at this stage." concluded Kim.
The Bree native needed to wait a year and a half before returning at the top of the World.
It is also official that Kim Clijsters is the first player ever to have become World No. 1 as a mother.
The Belgian, who only needed one more victory to reclaim to the top spot, defeated Jelena Dokic, 6-3, 6-0 to reach the semifinals of the Open GDF Suez.
Clijsters might not be the best player of all time, but the 27-year-old is the currently the best player by far.
