Novak Djokovic: How Toronto Win Will Give Him Extra Confidence for U.S. Open

It was the Serb's third overall win in Toronto. While also winning in 2011 and 2012, Nole's first Toronto title came in 2007.
Djokovic has been in a slump as of late. After losing to Roger Federer in the semifinals of Wimbledon, his decline continued at the Olympics. Djokovic fell to Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro. He did not medal in London.
The Serbian was able to serve well against the 14th-seeded Gasquet. Djokovic's aggressive tennis should definitely suit him better in his favorite surface of the year.
What does this mean for the U.S. Open? Well, it's hard to tell yet. The field in Toronto did not include Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. While Djokovic did enough to win, the upcoming tournament in Cincinnati should be a much more clear forecast of the future.
Seeing the draw should tell wonders, too. Djokovic has been on a rampage in the hard-court season. It allows him to play his style. With Nadal still battling injuries, Djokovic could have a shot to be in another U.S. Open final. Rafa is not participating in the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.
Another master series win could do wonders for Novak's confidence going into the last major of the year. He certainly will need to bounce back from some devastating, emotional losses in the grass-court season.
While Djokovic had his difficult times dealing with the opponent and/or weather conditions in Toronto, the win will certainly be a boost of confidence going into the final stretch of preparation before the year-ending Grand Slam.
